Apples to Apples is one of many fun party games that Out of the Box Publishing sold in the market before Mattel overtook it and started marketing under its name.
Equipment required is a Party Box containing 540 red apple cards and 180 green apple cards.

One of the players is chosen to be the judge for the round and the rest of the players are dealt with 7 red apple cards each, each one printed with a noun or a noun phrase. The judge picks up a green apple card with an adjective printed on it, and opens it up on the table so that everyone is able to see the adjective printed overleaf.
The players now match one of their noun cards with the adjective trying to make it the best match of all, and hand over the card to the judge.

The judge then shuffles all the red apple cards submitted to her/him, reads them aloud and passes her/his judgment as to which match s/he found the best.
The winner of the round is awarded with a green card and a new judge is chosen for the next round replenishing the red cards to count seven again. The first player to have accumulated a pre-fixed number of green cards is declared the winner of the game.
