Cootie/ Cooties is one of the very popular kids games falling under indoor party games accommodating two to four players in its gameplay. It's played as a roll-and-move tabletop game in which players set on to build a three dimensional bug-like object known by the name of the game, with help from a collection of plastic body parts provided for the purpose.

This indoor party game was first created by William Schaper in 1948. When it was launched the next year, it took the market by storm and sold millions in its very first year. In 1973 Tyco Toys acquired the game; and in 1986 Hasbro subsidiary Milton Bradley acquired it again, giving it a whole new look.

Though many companies had published this kids game design with the same name, it was Schaper's design only that stood the test of time; and is as popular in the twenty first century as it was when it was published the first in the earlier half of the twentieth. It is listed in the Toy Industry Association's "Century of Toys List".

The players compete to build the 'bug' from the plastic parts as fast as possible so that they are able to build it before anyone else does. The plastic body parts comprise a beehive-like body, a head, antennae, eyes, a coiled proboscis, and six legs. The whole fun of the game is that these plastic parts are to be earned through the roll of a die depending on the number it shows on the table.

The body corresponds to 1, the head to 2, antennas to 3, eyes to 4, mouth to 5, and the legs to 6. The players must acquire the body first and the head next to it before they are permitted to acquire the remaining parts in any order they prefer. Acquiring a part also permits an additional throw of the die to acquire another part if the player can. The player who completes the assembly before everyone else is declared the winner of the game.

Cootie/ Cooties as one of the very popular kids games falling under indoor party games was given the honor of being listed in the Toy Industry Association's "Century of Toys List" in the year 2003, meaning that it has been recognized as one of the 100 most popular and most creative toys of the 20th century.

Blokus belongs to the board games/ video games of abstract strategy among indoor party games played by two or four players. Bernard Tavitian first invented it and a French company Sekkoïa first released it in the year 2000.

The board is divided in 20 rows and 20 columns making 400 squares on it. There are 84 game tiles or pieces in 21 shapes, with 4 of the same shape in 4 different colors - blue, yellow, red, and green. Blue moves first, followed by yellow, red, and green in that order.

The first piece of a color, when played, goes to one of the corners on the board. Further pieces, on playing, must touch at least one piece of the same color, but only corner to corner and never edge to edge.

If a player is not able to find an area to place her/his piece, s/he passes the move and the next player takes over. When no one is able to find any area to place any of their pieces, the game is declared over.

Score is counted by counting the number of squares in each player's unplayed pieces, for which the players lose their points. In case a player was able to play all her/his pieces on the board, s/he not only doesn't lose any points but also gets extra bonus to add to her/his score.

Funkitron developed a video game version named Blokus World Tour, releasing it in December 2007. The video version is faithful to the board game version, making a new video addition to the indoor party games. An online version of the game is also available on the net.

The game has won many awards, including the Mensa Select award and the 2004 Teacher's Choice Award.

Jenga comes from the family of board games of skill among indoor party games, played with blocks. The game is marketed by Hasbro and can accommodate almost any number of players starting from 1 to be the least. The name of the game is a derivative of the Swahili word kujenga meaning "to build".

There are 54 wooden blocks, each of which is 3 times longer than its width, the height being a little smaller than the width. The blocks are first stacked to form a tower with the help of a plastic loading tray by placing 3 blocks in one storey, their lengths touching together. Adjacent stories must have their block directions perpendicular to each other. The tower has 18 stories in it.

The players take their turns by taking out any one block from any one storey and placing it on the top using only one hand of his or hers. Once the turn is over, the next player waits for 10 seconds in order to check that the tower doesn't fall before s/he moves her/his block out of the stack of tower.

If the tower falls down, the game is considered over with the person during whose turn it fell being declared to be the loser. The person whose turn it was before the turn of the loser automatically becomes the winner of the game.

There are many variations of Jenga coming from the family of board games of skill among indoor party games available, mixing it with drinking, stripping, Truth or Dare, Casino and Throw 'n Go along with a video game version by Atari for the Nintendo Wii and DS consoles.

Guess Who is one of the guessing games in board games to be played as indoor party games between two players, each one of whom is provided with an identical board that contains cartoon images of 24 people titled by their first names only.

Ora and Theo Coster created the game and that is why it is also known with the name of Theora Design, taking its ending 'ra' from Ora and the beginning 'Theo' from Theo Coster. Milton Bradley from Great Britain manufactured it first in 1979. Later in 1982, it was introduced in the United States.

As the game starts, each player randomly selects a card from a separate pile of cards containing the same 24 images. Now each one of the two is supposed to guess as to which card the opponent has selected. This is done by asking various 'yes' and 'no' type questions (like, "Is your person a male? or "Is your person wearing a hat?") in order to go on eliminating the images falling 'impossible' to be the one that is there on the opponent's card.

Zombies is a tile-based strategy game falling under board games/ video games category as indoor party games. The game is designed for 2 to 6 players to play as the case may be. Twilight Creations is also going to publish it as another addition to video games for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows.

The game develops along a zombie-infested town starting with the Town Square tile face up and 28 other town tiles shuffled into a pile, with the Helipad tile placed below all. The players' pieces are placed on the town square, and each one of them receives three life tokens and three bullet tokens.

As a player's turn comes, s/he places the topmost town tile adjacent to tiles that are already face up, matching the tiles in a proper, functional way. Along a tile two or more zombies are also placed on it with life tokens or bullet tokens for special locations provided as extra measures taken for their safety.

The aim of the players is to destroy a zombie that they share a square with on their way. A six-sided die decides how the player moves, using her/his life tokens and bullet tokens in emergencies.

The game is won either by the first player who kills 25 of them or by the first player who reaches the center square of the Helipad tile clearing it of any zombie there.

One of the players thinks of a word in her/his mind. The rest of the players are supposed to guess the same letter by letter, one letter at a time.

The one, who has decided the word, counts the letter in it and draws as many dashes on a piece of paper, each dash representing the letters of the word in order.

But if it doesn't, the leader draws one element of the hangman-diagram known as a 'tally mark' in the game, denoting hanging the guessing players element by element.

If all the dashes are replaced by letters before all the elements of the diagram are drawn, the guessing player/s win/s the game. If not, they lose it to the player who had initially thought the word.

Pictionary falls in the category guessing word games as board games under indoor party games. First time the game was published in 1985, which immediately after became so hit that it was made into more than one game shows on TV as well as video games to play on computer.

There are two teams in the game and the players in a team are supposed to guess and recognize particular words from what their teammates have expressed in their drawings.

A team moves a piece on the board on which squares are made with letters or shapes inside them telling what picture is to be drawn by one of the team members who picks up a card from a deck that has a word printed on it which the team member tries to express as best as possible in the form of a drawing without a single letter or digit written on it. The rest of the team members try to guess the word that the drawing is supposed to be made for.

The accuracy of guessing as well as the speed of it makes a team win the turn and move on to the next one. There is an absolute time limit imposed on the moves including both drawing and guessing by a team, enforced by a one-minute sand timer. The team moves on to the next turn by rolling a die and moving as many squares on the board. If the team has lost the turn, the other team takes over.

There are five dice in the game, which are rolled in order to make certain combinations.
